Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jnr will cash in on his superstar status this summer with a new mega-money contract with the Spanish giants – and is looking to match Erling Haaland’s £20million-a-year boot deal.

The Brazilian has become one of world football’s hottest properties over the past two seasons, in which he has scored a total 45 goals including the winner in last year’s Champions League final.

Vinicius’ current contract expires next summer, but Real will fend off interest from clubs across Europe by tying him down to a new deal until 2027.

Vinicius’s new wage will eclipse those of Real stars Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos – both around £300,000 a week – and likely increase his current weekly pay by at least £100,000.

Madrid want to make his contract renewal one of three blockbuster player presentations this summer.

The other two will be the arrival of Jude Bellingham, once Madrid have agreed terms with Borussia Dortmund, and the signing of centre forward to compete with Benzema who was so disappointing over the two legs against Manchester City.

Furthermore, the 22-year-old is looking to set the market with a new boot deal, having split from Nike earlier this year, and wants pay parity with City goal machine Haaland.

Both players were sponsored by Nike since they first emerged as brilliant teenagers, but Vinicius cut ties because his current deal comes nowhere near the Norwegian’s 10-year contract.

Vinicius has been with Nike since he was 13 and renewed with them in 2018 until 2028. But the terms were agreed without the expectation that he would develop as he has done.

He is being courted by both Puma, who sponsor his international team-mate Neymar, who joined Puma after leaving Nike, and by Adidas who sponsor Real Madrid.

Vinicius expected Nike to improve his terms – understood to be considerably less than half that now paid to Haaland – after his achievements last season. But he did not get what he wanted and so refused to wear Nike’s latest model boot at the Qatar World Cup.
