Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has insisted he has no plans to leave the club this summer.

While Lewandowski remains in elite goalscoring form – he has 29 goals in 30 games under Hansi Flick – there has been significant speculation that Barcelona are keen to move on from the 36-year-old due to concerns about his longevity, with clubs in the cash-rich Saudi Pro League keen to sign him.

Lewandowski will turn 37 in August and is undoubtedly in the twilight of his career but, upon collecting Pilka Nozna‘s Polish Player of the Year award for 2024, insisted he has no desire to leave Barcelona as he feels confident of maintaining his form for years to come.

“I feel very good at Barcelona – not only at the club, but also among the fans,” the prolific Pole said. “I feel it every day; in the stadium, in the streets. I’m really happy where I am and the club where I play. I don’t think about anything else and probably nothing will happen in this matter.

“I am proud of how old I am and what age I am. I am not ashamed and I do not see a problem with being 37. From a physical point of view, I am not afraid, but will there be the will? It all depends on how things will work out.

“Today, I have a smile on my face, I play on green pitches with great pleasure and I want to win some more. As long as my heart tells me it is worth it, I will do it.”

Barcelona have been linked with Viktor Gyokeres, a scorer of 34 goals in just 33 appearances for Sporting CP this season, and Alexander Isak, who has bagged 13 goals in his last ten Premier League appearances for Newcastle United, but both would come at a premium cost that the cash-strapped Catalan giants would currently struggle to finance.
