Tennis enthusiasts at the Australian Open are abuzz with speculation about a possible romance between top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz and a globally recognized DJ, following his victory over Alex de Minaur on Tuesday night.

During the quarter-final match at Rod Laver Arena, DJ Peggy Gou was seen in Alcaraz’s players’ box, as the Spanish player secured a win in straight sets.

After the match, Alcaraz, a six-time Grand Slam champion, was questioned about the well-known South Korean DJ and music producer, who seemed to enjoy the game from his box.

“I better win the next round if I want to see her perform. It’s amazing to have her support, which is really cool. Hopefully, I’ll catch her set on Sunday,” he commented.

Peggy Gou is scheduled to perform at the Australian Open on Sunday afternoon, just ahead of the men’s singles final.

Gou was born Kim Min-ji in Incheon, South Korea, on 3 July 1991 and her booking fee is generally in the high six figures, with some sources suggesting a starting price of $300,000 for events.

Before arriving at the Australian Open, Alcaraz and Gou had a dinner date in Seoul, where he was playing an exhibition match against arch rival Jannik Sinner.

Gou was cheering on Alcaraz against the pro-de Minaur crowd at Rod Laver Arena.

After watching Alcaraz’s remarks about Gou in his post-match press conference, many fans thought they were more than just friends.

‘He is in looove,’ one person wrote on Instagram.

‘Bro is struggling to lie lol. They are clearly not friends,’ another said.

‘She’s way too cool for Carlos. But maybe she can teach him a thing or two,’ a third person wrote.

Other comments included, ‘What’s the problem if she’s his gf? He’s allowed to have a life’, ‘Carlitos hitting winners everywhere’, ‘The last stare – he marked his territory!’ and ‘That’s wifey’.

Tennis fans have been speculating about the 22-year-old’s relationship status for some time now.

In November, Elena Vesnina, a former tennis player, asked him about his love status after the ATP Finals.

‘I have a question from a lot of girls around the world,’ she said. ‘Your heart has been taken?’

‘No, I’m free. I’m free. I’m free,’ he replied.

For months there was speculation about a relationship with Emma Raducanu, along with other celebrities.

Alcaraz was also previously rumoured to be dating model Brooks Nader.

The reigning French and US Open champion was surprised at receiving multiple marriage proposals from a smitten crowd during his third-round match at the Australian Open this year.

At one point during the match a woman yelled out, ‘Carlos, marry my daughter!’

Moments later, another fan shouted, ‘Marry my sister-in-law!’

If Alcaraz can defeat Alexander Zverev in the semis, he and Gou will provide two headline acts on Sunday.
