Everton has officially dismissed the possibility of signing Bologna’s right-back, Emil Holm. However, Everton’s manager, David Moyes, is currently pursuing alternative options.

Spurs agree £35m fee with Atletico for Gallagher after loan approach was rejected

In a separate development, Tottenham Hotspur has reached an agreement to pay Atletico Madrid’s asking price of 40 million euros (£35 million) for Conor Gallagher. This comes after Tottenham’s earlier attempt to secure Gallagher on a loan deal was rejected.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa has proposed a loan deal with an obligation to buy as they aim to strengthen their midfield lineup.

The club is also eyeing the 25-year-old Gallagher to enhance their squad. Aston Villa is currently waiting for scan results on their midfielder, Boubacar Kamara, who sustained a knee injury during the FA Cup victory over Tottenham.

Kamara exited the match with his leg in a brace and underwent a scan on Sunday. Initial assessments suggest he might be sidelined for about three weeks, but further examination will be conducted once the swelling diminishes. Additionally, Roma has expressed interest in taking Villa’s Donyell Malen on loan.

The Hammers, meanwhile, are stepping up interest in defenders and have enquired after versatile Metz midfielder Alpha Toure.

The 19-year-old Senegal youth international can also fill in at centre-back and left-back.

Villa seal deal for Metz striker Madjo, 17

Aston Villa have signed teenage striker Brian Madjo from Metz.

The 17-year-old’s arrival continues the club’s recruitment this month after the signing of 19-year-old winger Alysson from Gremio, in a deal that could grow to beyond £10m if add-ons are met.

Enfield-born Madjo has joined Unai Emery’s side for an undisclosed fee, understood to be worth up to £10m.

Madjo, who made his Metz debut in August, has earned three caps for Luxembourg, having represented England’s under-17s.

Villa remain keen to add another striker and midfielder this month.

Newcastle’s Will Osula, Tammy Abraham of Roma, on loan at Besiktas, and Conor Gallagher of Atletico Madrid are among their targets.

Wigan go for Accrington’s Ward

Wigan Athletic, flush from their FA Cup third round win over Preston North End, have made a move for Accrington Stanley defender Benn Ward.

The 22-year-old left-sided centre-back, who started out at Brighton and Hove Albion, only joined Accrington a year ago from Burnley.

He has been attracting attention from Reading, Bradford City and Chesterfield but Wigan are understood to have made a six-figure bid in an attempt to head off the competition.

MLS club Toronto offer £13.4m for Norwich’s Sargent

Toronto FC have made a £13.4million offer for Norwich City forward Josh Sargent. The 25-year-old informed manager Philippe Clement that he did not wish to play against Walsall ahead of their 5-1 FA Cup win on Sunday.

The USA international is keen to return to the MLS and be closer to family but Clement insists he should not be sold this window.

‘I want to be short about that. He sent me a message yesterday evening that he was not available to play today because of transfer things that are in his head,’ said Clement post-match. ‘The club has been really clear about that so he will not leave this transfer window.’

Talks will continue this week.

Leeds United are maintaining contact over Union Berlin centre-back Danilho Doekhi.

The 27-year-old is out of contract in the summer. Berlin have agreed to sign centre back Zeno Van Den Bosch from Royal Antwerp.

Leicester City are weighing up a late move for Birmingham City forward Lyndon Dykes.

The Scotland international is close to agreeing a move to Charlton Athletic who are discussing a loan.

Leicester are desperate to add more firepower but are working under financial restrictions and may need to sell first. They had been hoping to sign free agent former West Ham forward Michail Antonio but that was ruled out after he picked up another injury in training.

They are ready to sell Harry Winks and Wout Faes while Bournemouth are considering Abdul Fatawu and Monaco have checked on Boubakary Soumare. Clubs have also been circling their academy stars Jeremy Monga and Lorenz Hutchinson.
