Tottenham transfer for No.1 target Pedro Porro could collapse with Sporting Lisbon and Spurs failing to agree structure of £32.5million deal

Tottenham’s much-anticipated signing of Sporting Lisbon wing-back Pedro Porro could be in danger of collapse, according to reports.

Antonio Conte’s side have been heavily linked with the Spanish attacking defender, and appeared to be on the brink of a £32.5million deal which included add-ons and a player in return.

However, The Daily Mail now claim the two teams are struggling to structure the deal, which could see Sporting call the transfer off.

Spurs had already brought in Dutch forward Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal after beating Everton to his signature, but Porro was their top target for the January window.

The 23-year-old, who was the property of Manchester City between 2019 and 2022, has been one of the stand out players in the Primeira Liga.

He’s also twice played against Spurs in this season’s Champions League group stages, helping his team to a win and a draw against the north London side.

Earlier reports claimed Porro was set to sign a five-and-a-half year deal with Spurs, with his final game in green and white set to be on Sunday in the Taca da Liga final against FC Porto.

But another hitch in negotiations has put that plan in doubt.

Conte, who relies heavily on wingbacks in his preferred formation, is keen for reinforcements with his current options not up to scratch.

Emerson Royal has proved insufficient after joining from Barcelona, while a renaissance for Matt Doherty under the Italian ended up being short-lived.

Conte had also spent £20m on English prospect Djed Spence from Middlesbrough in the summer, but the 22-year-old looks set for a loan away after just six appearances.
