Wolves captain Ruben Neves is reportedly set to join Barcelona this summer despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

According to Sport, Neves could be involved in a player exchange deal that would see Ansu Fati join Wolves.

Neves, who has been at Wolves since 2017, has been heavily linked with a move away from Molineux.

It appears that his destination will be Barcelona on a four-year deal even though he isn’t Xavi’s first-choice target with regards to a new midfielder.

Sport state that Xavi would prefer to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

20-year-old Fati was extremely highly regarded when he broke through at Barcelona but an injury hampered his progress and this season the winger only started 12 times in the league despite making 36 appearances in total.

Fati did, however, finish the season strongly as he hit a brace against Mallorca and and also found the net against Celta Vigo.

With Neves unlikely to join, Arsenal are instead set to focus on other midfield targets such as West Ham’s Declan Rice and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

United are also looking to strengthen in midfield as they aim to compete with Manchester City.
