Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has insisted he has no concerns about Matheus Cunha’s response to ongoing transfer interest from Manchester United.

United are prepared to trigger Cunha’s £62.5m release clause and are progressing in negotiations over personal terms with the Brazil international, who is thought to be excited by the prospect of a move to Old Trafford.

A natural striker, Cunha has caught the eye as an attacking midfielder in Pereira’s 3-4-2-1 setup and it is thought that United head coach Ruben Amorim plans to use him in a similar role, although he would give nothing away when quizzed on the speculation on Friday.

Pereira also declined to reveal any details but stressed the fact that Cunha has retained his focus heading into the final few weeks of the campaign.

“He’s committed,” Pereira said. “He’s our player and he’s committed, that’s all. He has the mentality to help the team. It’s normal that [Cunha is mentioned] every time on the news, but this is not for me. I don’t care about the news.”

The belief is that United have the finances for a Cunha deal, regardless of their Champions League qualification aspirations, with player sales also not thought to be crucial to these particular plans.

Alongside Cunha, United are also chasing a deal to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. His £30m relegation release clause is of interest to a number of sides, including Chelsea and Newcastle United.

There will, however, be no move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as it stands. The Nigeria international is demanding over £300,000 per week to move to the Premier League – the sort of money which has drastically limited his options this summer.
