A 40-year-old Orlando man died in the crash while six others suffered minor injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — All lanes on Interstate 95 between State Road 16 and International Golf Parkway were closed in both directions for hours early Tuesday morning after a deadly crash, according to officials.

Florida Highway Patrol says at 10:15 p.m. on Monday, an SUV was traveling northbound on I-95 in the left lane, approaching mile marker 320, when the driver “lost control” of the vehicle.

The SUV then rotated counterclockwise, according to FHP’s crash report, as it “traveled off of the left side of the roadway” and hit a guardrail.

After hitting the guardrail, FHP says the SUV overturned and came to final rest on its roof in the left northbound lane.

“During the course of events, a passenger was ejected from the rear of V1 (the SUV),” the report states.

As a result, the passenger ended up in the left southbound lane of I-95, and was subsequently struck by drivers, according to FHP.

A 40-year-old Orlando man died in the crash while six suffered minor injuries, the report states.

Troopers say the crash is under investigation.
