The family has identified the teen as Johvon Tayor, NBC 6 reported.

FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — A 13-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Florida City Saturday night.

Police said the shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 1300 block of Northwest 6th Avenue.

The teen was found by officers in a backyard with gunshot wounds, according to police.

First responders rendered emergency aid to the teen until Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded. The teen was airlifted to Jackson South Trauma where he later died, 

The family has identified the teen as Johvon Tayor, NBC 6 reported.

An active investigation is ongoing into the shooting.
