A close call unfolded for a 13-year-old girl in Texas on Monday morning when she narrowly avoided an abduction attempt while on her way to school. The incident, occurring in broad daylight, involved a man who tried to seize her from behind. Authorities noted that the suspect was wearing a ski mask.
The frightening encounter took place as the young student made her way to Central Middle School in Galveston, just before 7 a.m. According to the Galveston Police Department, she became aware of someone following her when she heard footsteps approaching from the rear.
The man, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly grabbed her, initiating a brief altercation.
Displaying remarkable bravery, the teenager managed to bite her assailant twice, allowing her to escape unharmed. She immediately ran to the school where she reported the incident to her teachers, who promptly contacted the authorities.

The student’s parents later arrived at the school to accompany officers back to their apartment and retrace her route, helping them pinpoint exactly where the incident occurred.
Investigators obtained security footage from a nearby business that shows the student walking through the area, followed shortly by a man taking the same path, police said.

Authorities said the video shows the suspect, believed to be a white or Hispanic male, wearing a black short-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and what appeared to be a ski mask.
Police also issued an alert to local medical centers, asking them to notify authorities if anyone sought treatment for bite-related injuries.
