Georgia police charged 18-year-old Kingston Lammar Bradley with malice murder on Friday after allegedly finding trash bags containing dismembered human remains in the trunk of his vehicle.
Witnesses reportedly saw Bradley walking through his apartment complex carrying a container. When he realized he had been observed, he dropped it and fled into his apartment, Smyrna Police Lt. Meredith Holt said at a Friday news conference.
The witnesses contacted police after discovering what appeared to be human remains inside the container, Holt said.
Officers had previously gone to Bradley’s home after the family of a missing woman reported that her car and cellphone were there, according to Holt. Police did not obtain a search warrant at that time.
After witnesses located the remains, police returned with a warrant to search Bradley’s car. Inside, they found a tightly wrapped garbage bag that was “showing the outline of a body part,” according to a department news release.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene and confirmed that the bags contained human remains, police said.
Smyrna Police Chief Keith Zgonc identified the victim as Shanteria “KT” Mosley, whose family had reported her missing.
Holt said Mosley worked for DoorDash and that the company told investigators she had not been working on the day she disappeared, according to a report from affiliate FOX 5 Atlanta.
DoorDash told People Magazine that Mosley’s account was last active Tuesday.

Investigators have not determined what relationship, if any, Bradley had with Mosley, Holt said.
“This is a shocking crime, I don’t know how else to describe it. I’ve been in law enforcement for 25 years and I have been a part of multiple homicide cases and I’ve worked crimes against children for 16 years, and this is a particularly gruesome crime,” Holt said at the news conference.
“I cannot imagine what the family is going through,” she added.

Police continue to search for additional human remains, Holt said.
Bradley also faces an additional charge of concealing the death of another person.
Holt said officers had responded to Bradley’s apartment several times over domestic disputes. However, she said nothing during those calls suggested he was capable of committing a murder of this nature.
Bradley appeared Thursday in Cobb County Magistrate Court, where a judge denied him bond, FOX 5 reported. His next court hearing is scheduled for October.
