Breon Allen’s mother said he was a football star who was loved by everyone.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continues to search for the shooters who killed 7-year-old Breon Allen Friday.
The sheriff’s office said detectives have recovered the vehicle used by the shooters, but are still working to identify the suspects. JSO said an $18,000 reward is available to anyone who provides information that leads to the shooters’ arrests.
JSO said multiple shooters pulled up on the child and a 21-year-old man just after 5 p.m. Friday in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Almeda Street on the Westside. Dozens of gunshots could be heard in surveillance footage obtained by First Coast News. Breon was killed and the man he was with was “seriously injured.”
“Today has been a nightmare,” Breon’s mother, Casheena Love, told First Coast News the evening of the shooting. “I have never experienced nothing like this in my life and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”
Love said Breon was a football star who was loved by everyone.
“I never, never thought I’d be burying one of my babies,” she said. “If anybody seen anything, heard anything, know anything please, please, please, please, call it in. Call me, call family members, stop by the house I don’t care. Please let us know what happened to our baby. He was seven years old he did not deserve this.”
If you would like to report information that could help JSO’s investigation, you can do so anonymously with First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
