The Lake City Police Department says officers found multiple spent shell casings of various calibers at the scene.

LAKE CITY, Fla. — Two people were hospitalized early Saturday morning following a shooting at a block party on Mississippi Way in Lake City, according to the Lake City Police Department.

At approximately 1:24 a.m., LCPD says officers were sent to 698 Northwest Mississippi Way in reference to a report of a person shot.

When they arrived, the police department says officers found a man lying on the ground, suffering from two gunshot wounds to his “lower body.”

“Officers immediately rendered aid until EMS arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital,” LCPD said in a news release. “While surveying the scene, officers discovered multiple spent shell casings of various calibers in the roadway and on surrounding private property.”

Police say three vehicles were found with apparent bullet damage.

During the investigation, LCPD says officers learned that the second victim arrived at a local hospital. Police say the second victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released from the hospital.

At this time, LCPD says no suspects have been identified.

“We are thankful that this incident did not result in any fatalities,” Chief of Police Gerald Butler said in the release. “However, this level of gun violence is unacceptable, and we are committed to pursuing those responsible. We ask anyone with information to come forward.”

The police department is actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information on it is asked to call LCPD at 386-752-4343. To report information anonymously, contact the LCPD’s tips line at 386-719-2068 or Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386-754-7099.
