Deputies pursued a suspect vehicle for several miles down I-75, eventually ending in Suwannee County. Three people were apprehended after the pursuit.

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — Two people were hospitalized and three suspects are in custody after a shooting inside an Arby’s in Lake City on Thursday, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the Arby’s located on Highway 90 West after reports of a shooting. Deputies found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds inside the restaurant.

Witnesses described the suspects, including the suspect vehicle, to deputies as they rendered aid to the victims.

Minutes later, a deputy responding to the scene saw the vehicle with three people inside. Investigators said the vehicle then fled north on I-75, initiating a pursuit.

The Florida Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit, with troopers conducting a PIT maneuver on the vehicle near Mile Marker 437. The three suspects were apprehended without further incident.

One of the victims suffered serious injuries and was taken to a trauma unit, and the other victim had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, investigators said.

Investigators said a motive for the shooting remains unknown at this time, though preliminary information indicates the suspects are from out of county and are all adults.

The sheriff’s office is not identifying the suspects pending further confirmation.

Multiple agencies, including FHP, the Lake City Police Department, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, the Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement and other agencies assisted in the incident.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
