This program showcases fresh interviews with some of Hollywood’s most prominent figures, providing an insider’s perspective on the competitive landscape of the Oscars.
A highlight of this year’s nominations is Michael B. Jordan, who finds himself in the spotlight as a first-time Oscar contender for Best Lead Actor. His role in “Sinners,” the film with the highest number of nominations this year, has captured the attention of both audiences and critics alike.
For a comprehensive view of the 2026 Oscar nominees, a full list is available for those eager to explore the diverse range of talent and storytelling celebrated this year.
In a candid conversation with “On The Red Carpet” at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Jordan shared insights into his craft. “The roles and the characters I get the opportunity to play, you try to bring as much of yourself, you know, and effort into them to bring those characters to life,” he reflected. His remarkable portrayal of twins “Smoke” and “Stack” in “Sinners” also earned him the prestigious Icon Award at the festival.
The film’s success is further underscored by the recognition of Jordan’s co-stars, Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo, who have each garnered Oscar nominations. Together, they contribute to the record-setting 16 nominations awarded to Ryan Coogler’s gripping vampire thriller, “Sinners,” marking it as a standout in this year’s cinematic achievements.
“Titanic,” “La La Land” and “All About Eve” were the previous record holders with 14 Oscar nods each.
“Sinners” is also up for Best Costume Design, marking the fifth career nomination for costume designer Ruth E. Carter, who’s now the most-nominated Black woman in Oscar history.
“One Battle After Another” has the second most nominations this year, including Best Picture, which it already won at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and National Board of Review Awards.
Leonardo DiCaprio earned his sixth career Lead Actor nod and eighth nomination overall.
“It’s an original concept,” DiCaprio told On The Red Carpet about how he’d describe the film. “It’s (director Paul Thomas Anderson), you know, to me, he’s harkening back to the revolutionaries of the late ’60s in a modern context. But in the end of the day, it’s about a father trying to get back to his daughter and reconnect.”
The other best picture nominees are “Marty Supreme,” “Frankenstein,” “Sentimental Value,” “Bugonia,” “F1,” “The Secret Agent,” “Train Dreams,” and “Hamnet.”
“As artists and actors you’re always hoping to affect somebody’s heart,” Hamnet’s Jessie Buckley told On The Red Carpet. Buckley won the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award and is now an Oscar nominee for “Best Actress.”
This new episode of “On The Red Carpet” also includes interviews with nominees Rose Byrne, Stellan Skarsgrd, Wagner Moura, Ethan Hawke, Kate Hudson and more. Watch On The Red Carpet and the Nominees Are…” in the video player above.
