A funeral home in Macclenny identified the young woman as Mya LeAnn Harrington.

MACCLENNY, Fla. — A Macclenny woman killed in a crash in Clay County on Sunday morning has been identified as Mya LeAnn Harrington, 21, according to an obituary published by a Macclenny funeral home.

Guerry Forbes Funeral Home writes that Harrington was an employee of the Florida Department of Corrections.

She is described as a beloved daughter. Harrington had been a cheerleader since the age of nine and served as the captain of the Baker County High School cheerleading team.

“She loved hunting and being outdoors and had recently taken up shooting after beginning her career with the Florida Department of Corrections,” the funeral home wrote. “Mya loved old-school country music and her cowgirl boots. Above all else, Mya was a loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, and friend whose memory will live on through those who knew and loved her.”

Harrington is survived by her parents, sister, maternal grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

What happened?

Harrington was killed in a collision between her SUV and a pickup truck in Clay County early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

A 19-year-old was driving the pickup truck west toward County Road 218 on Nolan Road when he drove into the path of Harrington’s SUV. The SUV collided with the front driver’s side corner of the truck’s bumper.

Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP. Harrington was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 19-year-old driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries.
