HARLINGEN, Texas (Border Report) — Nearly a quarter million dollars worth of narcotics was seized from the lining of a cooler at an international bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas, during the Labor Day weekend.
The seizure occurred Sunday at the Camino Real International Bridge after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred a car driven by a 46-year-old Mexican citizen for secondary inspection, CBP said.
Officers said using a canine and nonintrusive inspection equipment, they discovered 22.7 pounds of methamphetamine and 2.3 pounds of cocaine inside the lining of a cooler in the vehicle.
The drugs have a street value of $238,915, officials said.
“This significant seizure was possible because of the continued vigilance and alertness our CBP officers put forth on a daily basis,” Eagle Pass Port Director Pete Beattie said.
