A stunning $9.1 million superyacht met a tragic fate in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea earlier this week, just shortly after being handed over to its proud new owner.
Named the Angiola II, this opulent vessel was cruising off the idyllic coast of Porto Cervo on Sardinia, a favorite Italian island, with 14 passengers aboard. Engine malfunctions led to a fire outbreak, as detailed by a report from the New York Post reported.

As the fire raged, it compromised the yacht’s seals, allowing water to flood in and causing the yacht to keel over. Fortunately, all guests onboard managed to evacuate and were safely rescued by other vessels in the vicinity, according to The Telegraph.

The unidentified owner — an Italian businessman — was the last one off the ship, the newspaper reported.
The yacht reportedly sank at a depth of around 23 feet between an island called L’Isola dei Cappuccini and Capo Ferro, on Sardinia’s exclusive Costa Smeralda, or Emerald Coast, the news report states.
The boat will be kept under surveillance until a recovery company recovers it from the sea floor.
