The Grammy Awards red carpet provided for an embarassing moment for a pair of entertainment journalists and an A-list music icon.

During an interview on the red carpet, two female reporters, Krysta Fauria and Leslie Ambriz from AP, were engaging with a renowned musician and producer known for his 26 #1 hits and 12 Grammy awards.

The journalists were listening to the music icon’s responses when one of them noticed Chappel Roan, 26, who is up for six Grammy Awards this year.

While in the middle of the interview, Fauria started addressing someone named Chappel, which led Babyface to jokingly say, ‘Go do that,’ as he graciously gave up his spot for the pop star known as Kayleigh Rose Amstutz.

Many music fans took to social media to bash the reporters for the embarassing exchange on the red carpet.

Can you guess who the music legend who was cut off in favor of Chappel Roan?

The two AP reporters were asking about his proclivities to produce in both the pop and rock genres.

While Babyface was trying to respond, one of the reporters said, ‘Chappel! Chappel!’ as Babyface smiled and turned to the pop star.

Encouraging the reporters, he said, ‘You guys wanna do that? Go do that,’ stepping aside for the singer. Ambriz expressed her apologies to Babyface for the shift and then both reporters proceeded to compliment Roan on her attire.

@sephma98 shared a brief video of the exchange, adding, ‘Just saw this live lmaoo. The interviewers cut off Babyface to get Chappell Roan’s attention.’

Others were not too thrilled like @eyeamsabrina, who said, ‘Watching the AP Grammy Red Carpet and this interviewer just cut Babyface off to talk to Chappell Roan – the disrespect is insane. That was so unprofessional omg #GRAMMYs.’

@numbvhs added, ‘hey @AP you need to have a serious conversation with your employees. cutting off the musical icon who is babyface and taking his mic abruptly while he was speaking to talk to chappell roan is so incredibly disrespectful and rude. especially during black history month.’

Another X user, @AllisonM_Tswift, added, ‘No cause the way they cut off babyface for chappell roan was actually really rude and sad.’

@N3HEARTBREAK said, ‘that was so unprofessional, talking to THEE babyface but interrupting it for chappell roan?? it’s just straight up disrespectful no matter who the person is, they should be fired for that.’

Draco Fury (@DRVCO13) said in all caps, ‘RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL AND LAME… Y’ALL OWE THAT BROTHER A FORMAL APOLOGY.’

@WinterSkulzYT added, ‘Exactly! Like my jaw dropped when that happened. The interviewers are not professional at all and I really hope that clip gets seen.

@tupacs1outlaw added, ‘I completely agree with this like that was so rude and unnecessary.’

Roan is coming off her breakthrough hit album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which was released in 2023 and considered a ‘sleeper hit’ at the time.

The release of her hit single Good Luck, Babe! – which reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts – lead to other songs from that album charting as well.

Now she’s up for six Grammy nominations at Sunday’s awards ceremony – including the Big 4 – Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.

She’s also up for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance for her song Good Luck, Babe!

Chappell Roan fans went wild after the controversial singer branded her former teacher a ‘b***h’ while on stage this weekend

The Hot To Go singer, 26, who recently canceled her tour and threatened to quit fame, was filmed introducing her track, My Kink Is Karma at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Zilker Park  – but laid into her theater teacher in an expletive laden intro.

She said: ‘I usually dedicate this song to my ex but I dedicate this song to my f*****g theater teacher… who kicked me out, b***h! I’m here!’

A fan shared the video writing: ‘f**k the theater teacher that kicked out chappell. We ride at dawn.’
