ATLANTA — A mother and her three daughters will graduate from Georgia State University on the same day!

Four members of the Lee family, of Austell, Georgia, including mother Quila Lee, 53, daughter Rakiya Lee, 31, and twins Kamiya and Kalaya Lee, 22, will receive their master’s and bachelor’s degrees during commencement on May 7. The graduation ceremony will be held at the Georgia State Convocation Center.

According to a release from Georgia State, Quila Lee is a seventh-grade social studies teacher at Clayton County’s Babb Middle School. She will receive her second master’s degree: a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on secondary education.

Rakiya Lee is a project manager for the City of Atlanta. Georgia State said Rakiya is earning her second degree: a Master of Public Administration. Rakiya previously earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from GSU in 2017.

Kamiya and Kalaya Lee are also completing their respective bachelor’s degrees in biology from the university. After graduation, Kamiya plans to attend medical school to become a physician and Kalaya wants to pursue a veterinary medicine degree, according to Georgia State.

GSU stated that Quila’s daughters had previously accompanied her when she earned her first master’s degree in 2003.

“Fast forward 22 years, and you never could have told me these girls and I would be graduating together,” Quila told Georgia State. “As any mother would be, I am so proud of them.”
