ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — St. Johns County sheriff’s deputies are currently on scene of a crash involving a pedestrian in the Flagler Estates community Friday morning, the sheriff’s office said in a post on its Facebook page.
The pedestrian is a teenager, who suffered injuries in the crash the sheriff’s office is calling a hit-and-run; it happened at the intersection of Palatka Boulevard and Carpenter Avenue. St. Johns County Fire Rescue told First Coast News the teen was airlifted to a local trauma hospital in critical condition.
SJSO says firefighters with St. Johns County Fire Rescue are on scene, too.
“The suspect vehicle is outstanding at this time,” SJSO’s post states. “If any resident in the area has any exterior video footage facing Palatka Blvd near Delgado Ave. and Carpenter Ave, please send it to sointelligence@sjso.org.”
Due to the police activity, the sheriff’s office’s post states that “the roadway from Delgado Ave to Carpenter Ave is currently shut down.”
“This is an active investigation, please avoid the area,” the post reads.
