AUSTIN (KXAN) A Central Texas man received a 14-year prison sentence related to the distribution of fentanyl and other illegal controlled substances, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The DOJ said 37-year-old Joshua James Calvo’s sentence would include the forfeiture of $34,567 in drug proceeds, assorted jewelry and 19 firearms and be followed by three years of supervised release.

According to the Justice Department, Calvo distributed a variety of controlled substances between February and May 2024.

Through informants in 2024, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration bought heroin and methamphetamine from Calvo on:

  • February 11
  • March 21
  • April 11

On May 1, DEA agents executed a search warrant for Calvo’s residence and found nineteen firearms, more than $34,000 in cash and approximately 23 pounds of drugs, including:

  • 1.2kg of fentanyl
  • 8.2kg of marijuana
  • 890g of heroin
  • 295g of meth

Calvo was then arrested.

“Joshua Calvo’s sentencing continues this Office’s efforts to stem the tide in the greater Austin area of the illegal drug distribution of fentanyl and other controlled substances,” the DOJ said.

The case was investigated by the DEA, Williamson Co. Sheriff’s Office and Georgetown Police Department.
