An actress famous for her role on the TV series “You’re the Worst” has been accused of taking around half a million dollars from a former owner of the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team. However, she claims she is unable to hire a lawyer due to her financial struggles.

Jennifer Courtemanche, aged 45, is facing legal action for allegedly stealing $445,000 from her wealthy ex-partner Gavin Maloof over a period of three years using the Apple Cash app, as reported by 8 News Now in Las Vegas.

Despite residing in an upscale area in Los Angeles, Courtemanche, who is also a model, stated in a court document dated January 13 that she lacks the financial means to afford legal representation.

She is jobless and has no source of income, her affidavit said. But the station said it found that as of last month, her mailing address was an apartment building in Marina Del Rey, a ritzy oceanfront neighborhood in Los Angeles. Apartments in the building cost at least $2,700 a month, and some units have ocean views.

The Las Vegas police say Courtemanche plotted with pal Brittany Burgess to swipe the nearly half-million-dollar pot from the ex-Knights owner in December 2020.

Three years earlier, Courtemanche texted Burgess about her excitement Maloof was single again, cops say.

“OMG THIS IS IT he broke up with his [expletive] FINALLY and wants me to come out im not letting [redacted] or anythinggggg stop me this is my chance for BOTH of us,” Courtemanche said.

“This neeeeeds to happen,” she allegedly continued. “I’ve been so down and out and POOR … we need to get the life weve always deserved no more struggling no more misery mental hospitals ERs etc lol.”

Burgess allegedly responded, “We need a plan.”

In June 2021, the duo sprung their trap and stole the first bit of money through Apple Cash, police said.

Courtemanche later texted Burgess that she was with Maloof at the time of the transaction and was “trying so hard not to laugh,” the arrest warrant said.

That year, Courtemanche allegedly stole about $93,000 in Apple Cash payments, the station said.

She took another $275,000 the next year and $75,000 more in 2023, according to a criminal complaint by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.

Las Vegas detectives uncovered the plot when Maloof complained to police that he’d been receiving harassing texts and photographs from several Voice Over Internet Protocol numbers — and cops traced the numbers in question back to his girlfriend.

When Las Vegas and Los Angeles cops went to Courtemanche’s Califronia home with a search warrant, they asked her if she had any idea why they were there.

“Literally none,” she replied, adding she was “obviously stunned.”

Detectives later said Courtemanche hid a phone while they were there, the station added.

Burgess also allegedly feigned ignorance when the Las Vegas cops showed up at her Massachusetts abode waving a search warrant — with the local state police in tow.

“Burgess kept stating how she was confused, and she felt like she was ‘duped’ by her best friend, and she did not understand what was going on,” the warrant said.

The scheme allegedly netted her about $12,000, while Courtemanche took nearly $433,000, police said.

A grand jury later indicted them both on three felony counts of theft, one felony count of launder or attempt to launder money and several misdemeanors, the network said.

Burgess was in court Jan. 2, and her case is still open.

Courtemanche’s next court date is Jan. 21.
