Steven Weisberg, a 58-year-old Buffalo Grove man, is accused of secretly recording women and girls with a hidden camera at his Addison ice cream shop.

Prosecutors say in early August, police received an anonymous complaint about an apparent fake wall electrical outlet in the restroom.

An undercover Addison police officer went to Flavor Frenzy and saw what appeared to be an outlet with a small black lens in one of the receptacles, positioned to capture portions of the restroom, including a urinal.

Prosecutors say authorities found 11 videos of six people, including three female Flavor Frenzy employees, in the “deleted” folder on Weisberg’s phone.

Days after his arrest, four more teenage girls who worked at the shop told police that he asked them to model T-shirts.

Detectives allegedly found two other videos of female employees, including a minor. Those alleged videos show the workers undressing and exposing their buttocks and sex organs.

On Tuesday, a new lawsuit was filed against the ice cream shop owner.

Lawyers say Weisberg used another secret camera to record nude footage of a teenage girl at his home in Buffalo Grove.

The woman in question is now 19 years old. While she has chosen to remain anonymous, her attorneys spoke on her behalf Tuesday.

“She felt powerless. This was her first job. She was a 15-year-old girl. And this is her boss,” said Mathew Siporin, an attorney with Pullano & Siporin.

For now, she is Jane Doe, listed as a plaintiff in a new civil lawsuit filed against Weisberg, who, on Aug. 17 was criminally charged in DuPage County with, among other things, child pornography.

Jane Doe worked at Flavor Frenzy for three years, starting when she was 15.

“She got the best schedule, the best assignments that paid the most money,” attorney Richard Pullano said.

Those assignments, according to Pullano, included working festivals near Weisberg’s Buffalo Grove home.

“They would have a night event by his house. They would play pickleball. He said, ‘we have to go back and shower, and then we will go to work.’ And she ended up showering in the kids’ bathroom,” Pullano said.

According to the lawsuit filed Tuesday, that bathroom also contained a hidden camera that captured his client, who by then was 18 years old, fully naked.

“The police have told our client they believe it’s been in there for years,” Pullano said.

The lawsuit also alleges that over the years Weisberg offered her “drugs and alcohol while working at the summer festivals alone with him.”

That was allegedly in addition to engaging in other inappropriate behavior.

“She was forced to stay silent about this for years out of embarrassment, fear and manipulation, and now that all of this has come out, the additional camera. She keeps talking to us about how she wants to be brave,” Siporin said.

Buffalo Grove police confirmed that they do have an active investigation regarding Weisberg. But no criminal charges have yet been filed against him in Lake County.

Weisberg is due in court again Friday. A judge ordered him to be held in custody ahead of his trial.

Addison police said Flavor Frenzy remains closed, and its business license was voluntarily surrendered.

Addison police asked anyone with information to call them at 630-543-3080.
