In Mokena, Illinois, a significant discovery has unfolded as authorities continue to uncover human remains in a field where the bones of a missing individual were found just last week, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, law enforcement officials reported finding more remains during an exhaustive search of the site located at the intersection of Townline Road and Oakwood Drive in Mokena.

Residents can expect to see ongoing police presence in the vicinity for several hours and potentially into Monday night as investigations continue.
Initially, bones were discovered in this field last Tuesday afternoon, marking the start of this grim investigation.
The sheriff’s office noted that land surveyors stumbled upon what they believed to be a human skull, prompting deputies to uncover additional scattered bones throughout the area.
On Friday night, the Will County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the remains are that of 36-year-old Terhan F. Gordon, a Joliet man whose family reported him missing in July 2025.
He was last seen in the 1500-block of Route 53 and North Broadway Street in late June.
Gordon’s cause and manner of death were not immediately known.
“The Joliet Police Department extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Gordon’s loved ones during this difficult time. Our detectives remain committed to working in coordination with the Will County Sheriff’s Office and the Will County Coroner’s Office as the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Mr. Gordon,” said Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans.
Will County sheriff’s police are investigating. Authorities did not immediately provide further information about the remains recovered on Monday.
