Around 8:31 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a local hospital regarding a person shot in the foot.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are investigating after a teen was shot on the Westside Saturday night.

Around 8:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local area hospital regarding a person shot in the foot, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. 

The victim, a male teenager, suffered a single gunshot wound to his left foot, the agency stated.

The victim said he was walking in the 3100 block of West 6th Street when he heard gunshots and started running, according to JSO. The victim was not able to provide any potential suspect information, police said.

The victim called a family member who picked him up in a vehicle and drove him to the hospital. The agency said officers canvassed the area of the shooting and were unable to find a crime scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
