TALLAPOOSA COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation has launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting that involved officers with the Tallassee Police Department.
According to ALEA, officers with the Tallassee Police Department responded to a domestic violence call in the 2900 block of Notasulga Road in Tallassee at around 3:05 p.m. During the incident, an individual discharged a firearm, causing officers to shoot at the suspect. The suspect has been identified as Adam Davis, 38. Davis was taken to a hospital for treatment.
ALEA says that no officers were injured in the incident.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives issued Davis with a federal detainer for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Davis also has pending charges for Domestic Violence.
This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional information is available. Findings will be turned over to the Office of the District Attorney Fifth Judicial Circuit when the investigation is complete.
