American Airlines Plane Blows Tire After Landing With Brake Issues at Chicago O’Hare Airport, Officials Say

CHICAGO (WLS) — An American Airlines plane landed at Chicago O’Hare International Airport with a reported brake problem Tuesday afternoon before blowing a tire, officials said.

The Federal Aviation Administration said American Airlines Flight 41, arriving from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport in Spain, landed safely at about 2:30 p.m. The crew reported a brake issue and a blown tire after touchdown.

The Chicago Fire Department initially reported that two tires were flat when emergency crews reached the aircraft. One person was taken to a hospital in good condition. ABC7 was working to determine whether the individual was hurt during the landing.

Chopper 7 was above the airport around 4 p.m., showing emergency vehicles surrounding the plane. Video from the scene showed passengers leaving the aircraft by staircase.

The flight was carrying 234 customers and 11 crew members. According to the FAA, passengers deplaned and were transported by bus to the terminal.

American Airlines said the Boeing 787-800 was removed from service so its maintenance team could inspect the aircraft.

The cause of the reported brake problem was not immediately known.

Authorities had not released additional details about the incident.

This is a developing story. Check back with ABC7 for updates.
