An explosive incident rocked a chemical facility near Yazoo City, Mississippi, on Wednesday, leading to a hazardous ammonia leak. According to officials, the incident occurred at a CF Industries plant.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities stemming from this alarming event. Swift actions by emergency personnel have so far ensured that the situation remains under control.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves addressed the situation on social media platform X, confirming that the leak was a consequence of the explosion. He stated, “The state of Mississippi is actively responding to the anhydrous ammonia leak at CF Industries’ plant north of Yazoo City.” His message underscored the urgency and seriousness with which state officials are handling the incident.

In light of the potential risks, Governor Reeves strongly advised residents near Renshaw Road and Generette Road to evacuate without delay. For those in the broader vicinity of the plant, he recommended remaining indoors as a precautionary measure to minimize exposure to the ammonia leak.

The governor urged people near Renshaw Road and Generette Road to evacuate immediately and advised those in the surrounding area to shelter in place.

The American Red Cross opened a reception center in the city to support affected residents.
