WASHINGTON — In a surprising announcement, comedian and actress Amy Schumer revealed that she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, are ending their seven-year marriage.

Schumer shared the news on her Instagram account Friday evening, accompanying the announcement with a heartfelt photo of the pair riding the subway together.

“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer wrote in her post. “We still care deeply for each other and remain committed to co-parenting our son.”

She requested privacy for their family during this time and emphasized that the decision was not influenced by her recent weight loss or Fischer’s status as an acclaimed chef known for his “James Beard Award” talents.

She described the decision as “difficult” but “amicable.”

The two got married in 2018 after romance rumors a year prior, according to PEOPLE. They share their 6-year-old son Gene.
