Eagles fan's attempt to fly fails during NFC Championship celebrations

One Eagles fan took the “Fly Eagles Fly” chant a bit too seriously after the Birds punched their ticket to Super Bowl 2025 on Sunday.

A fan in a No. 5 Eagles jersey made a daring climb up a pole outside the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia’s Center City. In a video circulating on social media, the fan hung from a flag that ultimately ripped, causing them to drop to the ground.

Following the Eagles’ dominant victory over the Commanders in the NFC Championship game with a score of 55-23 at Lincoln Financial Field, enthusiastic fans flooded the streets of Philadelphia. They could be seen dancing on cars and climbing light poles in celebration.

The man crashed into a crowd of screaming Eagles fans, who began cheering after he seemed to be OK.

He held onto a “Go Birds” flag that was attached to the pole and swung through the air before it ripped.

In the video, another man was seen clinging to the top of the pole.

People were seen filming the moment while some climbed stoplights and other structures.

The city of Philadelphia resembled scenes from an action movie as jubilant Eagles fans marked their team’s entry into the Super Bowl 2025 on Sunday. The excitement and frenzy were real, with no stunt doubles involved in the impromptu street celebrations.

Other videos on social media showed Eagles faithful marching down Broad Street.

The Eagles are in the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.

This time, they have star running back Saquon Barkley — who agreed to a three-year, $37.75 million deal last March after six seasons with the Giants.

It marks Barkley’s first trip to the Super Bowl after he appeared in two playoff games with New York.

The Chiefs and Eagles will meet in a Super Bowl rematch in New Orleans on Feb. 9.

Kansas City beat Philadelphia in Super Bowl 2023, 38-35.
