MUNCIE, Ind. — Police say a Muncie, Indiana, man was arrested after an officer caught him raping a 15-year-old last weekend near the White River in Muncie.

According to court documents filed on Sunday in Delaware County, 30-year-old Arijan Urguni has been preliminarily charged with:

  • One count of rape, a Level 3 felony
  • One count of sexual misconduct with a minor/fondling, a Level 4 felony.

At around 11:08 p.m. on Saturday, a conservation officer was on patrol in the area of White River Blvd. and Dill Street checking public access points along the White River.

The officer reportedly made contact with the occupants of a Toyota 4 Runner and requested Muncie police after a man, later identified as Urguni, was found with his pants down in the midst of a reported rape involving a teenager.

The teen initially told the conservation officer that the meeting was a “consensual ‘hook-up.'” However, the teen said it was not consensual after he was separated from Urguni. Court documents state the 15-year-old said he had met Urguni on a dating application.

“[The teen] advised that he willingly got inside of Urguni’s vehicle and they both shook hands,” the documents read. “[The teen] stated that immediately following their handshake, Urguni began touching him sexually.”

The teen told police he attempted to pull away from Urguni, showing he did not consent. The documents said the conservation officer walked up to the vehicle as the rape was occurring. In an interview with Urguni, police claim he admitted to the incident.

In the state of Indiana, Level 3 felonies are punishable by three to 16 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. A Level 4 felony is punishable by two to 12 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
