Things went downhill for Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards in a 111-102 loss to the Lakers on Thursday night.

After receiving his second technical foul and getting ejected in the third quarter, the All-Star guard threw the ball at fans near the court as he was being led away, showing his anger visibly.

The crowd roared with oohs as the 23-year-old Edwards slapped hands with some of his teammates on his way to the locker room.

During the game, Edwards was making a move towards the basket when he slipped and fell while trying to execute a step-back maneuver, contested by Lakers’ Gabe Vincent.

Even though he put up 18 points, Edwards appeared annoyed that no foul was called on the play, which ended up being a jump ball between him and Lakers’ Jarred Vanderbilt instead.

He was called for his second technical foul after he continued chirping at official Brent Barnaky and the other officials.

“He’s got to be better. He’s had too many outbursts. I think a lot of them are deserved,” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said. “They’re going to miss some calls from time to time for sure. We’ve been talking to him about it. It’s on him.”

Edwards’ first tech came for a separate incident shoving incident with Vanderbilt.

Edwards, who appeared confused by the call, gripped the ball as he learned of his ejection and bounced it a few times before walking off.

Edwards now has 16 technicals this season, which results in an automatic one-game suspension.

He will likely serve that when the Timberwolves face the Jazz in Utah on Friday.

As of Friday, the NBA has yet to address the incident.

Every two technical fouls after a player’s 16th will result in a one-game ban, per league rules.
