WASHINGTON — Need something last minute for a Fourth of July BBQ? Maybe a few things on the way to a big firework show? 

Most grocery chains and big-box retailers will keep their doors open on Independence Day, which falls on Friday this year. 

While some may operate on reduced or adjusted hours, there are still options for those looking to buy last-minute grilling essentials or patriotic decorations. 

Which stores will be open on the Fourth of July?

Here are several of the major national retailers that will be open July 4, either with regular or limited hours. As always, be sure to double check your local store hours as locations may vary. 

Academy Sports + Outdoors: Open regular hours

Albertsons: Open regular hours 

Aldi: Open with adjusted hours 

Bass Pro Shops: Open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., but check with local store hours

Best Buy: Open regular hours 

Big Lots: Open regular hours 

BJ’s Wholesale: Open regular hours

Cabela’s: Most stores will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., but check local store’s hours 

CVS: Most stores will be open regular hours. Pharmacy hours may vary by location.

Dillard’s: Stores will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dollar General: Open regular hours, which vary by location.

Food Lion: Open regular hours

Home Depot: Most stores open regular hours, but some may have an early close at 8 p.m. Check local store’s hours.

Kohl’s: Open regular hours, which may vary by location.

Kroger: Store hours vary by location (This includes grocery stores under the Kroger umbrella, including QFC, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Gerbes and others) 

Lowe’s: Most stores will open at their regular time but close early. Check your local store.

Macys: Open with reduced hours

Petco: Open, but some locations may close early

Publix: Open regular hours

Sam’s Club: Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus members, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Club members

Starbucks: Store hours vary by location

Whole Foods: Most locations will be open, but store hours will vary by location

Is Target open on July 4?

Target stores will be open regular hours on the Fourth of July.

Is Trader Joe’s open on the Fourth of July?

Trader Joe’s stores will open on July 4 but all stores will close at 5 p.m.

Is Walmart open on July 4th?

Most locations open regular hours, but check your local store.

What will be closed on Independence Day?

Most national chain restaurants will be open on Independence Day, though Raising Cane’s will be closed.

Costco July 4 hours

Costco is one of the few national retailers that won’t be open on the Fourth of July. It will close all stores July 4. 

Are banks closed on Fourth of July? Is the post office closed?

Because the Fourth of July is a federal holiday, banks, post offices, other government offices and the stock market will all be closed Friday. 

Will there be mail on July 4?

The post office will be closed Friday, meaning no mail will be delivered. 

FedEx offices will have modified hours and most of the services will be unavailable July 4, according to the company.

UPS will not have pickup or delivery services on July 4, according to the company’s website. Their stores may also be closed and vary by location.
