JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is facing attempted murder charges after a woman was shot in a Dunkin’ drive-thru Tuesday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Tommie Lee Taylor III is accused of shooting his stepdaughter’s ex-girlfriend after a dispute in the drive-thru of a Dunkin’ off Gate Parkway, an arrest report obtained by First Coast News states.
Police responded to the donut shop at 7005 Gate Pkwy around 5:35 p.m. following the shooting.
When they arrived, they found a 21-year-old woman shot once in the shoulder and grazed in the back of her head. The victim’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening, the report states.
The woman, who managed to walk into the business to call for help, told responding officers that she was at her ex-girlfriend’s parents’ home to discuss their daughter’s mental health and get her cellphone back, the report states.

The report then says that Taylor was giving the victim a ride to what he thought was her home. When they arrived at Dunkin’, the victim attempted to exit the vehicle.
The details of the dispute that led up to the shooting and the shooting itself are redacted from the arrest report.
After the shooting, the victim got out of Taylor’s Toyota Tundra and told store employees she had been shot, the report states. Taylor then closed the truck’s passenger side door, left open by the victim, and fled the scene, the report states.
Just after 6 p.m., officers identified Taylor’s vehicle driving on the Northside and a pursuit ensued. Law enforcement used a PIT maneuver on the truck and Taylor was taken into custody, the report states.

The 48-year-old faces charges of second-degree attempted murder and aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, online jail records show.
Taylor is being held at the Duval County jail on no bond.
