() The husband of Nikki Saelee-McCain, missing since May of 2024, has been arrested in connection with her death.
“This is a huge step in the investigation,” said the missing woman’s sister, Kay Saelee Ford.
Saelee-McCain disappeared a week before she was set to testify against Tyler McCain in a domestic violence case that stemmed from an incident in 2023.
Shortly before she disappeared, she texted her family saying she was helping her in-laws with an emergency.
Detectives arrested McCain this week and are charging him with homicide.
Saelee Ford told law enforcement have remained tight-lipped about the case.
But another sister of Saelee-McCain, Chloe Saelee, said there is evidence from Saelee-McCain’s truck, which was found days after she disappeared.
“Upon finding her car that day, May 25, when they opened up the back of the truck, there was an overwhelming smell of decomposition,” Saelee said .”Also, there was a sheet that was found in the back of the truck that tested positive for Nikki’s blood DNA, and also Tyler’s DNA was on there.”
Saelee-McCain’s sisters say they are trying to stay strong for her four children, who are now facing the possibility that their father killed their mother.
The family is hoping for some kind of closure, even though Saelee-McCain’s body has not been found.
“Whether we locate her remains and have a proper burial and a proper funeral for her, or if we might have to take the route of just doing a memorial for her, at least having a proper official kind of goodbye,” Saelee Ford said.
McCain is being held without bond and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
