Police say part of what linked the man to the woman’s death are text messages and surveillance footage from a St. Marys food mart showing the drug transaction.

NASSAU COUNTY, FLORIDA, Fla. — A man has been arrested and charged in connection to a Nassau County woman’s October 2024 fentanyl overdose death, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) announced in a post on their Facebook page Friday.

Jeffrey Robinson, 44, was arrested on charges of manslaughter and unlawful use of a two-way communication device relating to the woman’s death, according to the post. On Dec. 30, 2024, he was “apprehended” in Camden County on drug distribution charges, the post states.

The sheriff’s office says in October, deputies responded to the woman’s home in Fernandina Beach, finding her “unresponsive with prescription bottles and suspicious blue pills nearby.” Family members of the woman told NCSO then that the woman recently purchased drugs in Camden County from a dealer known as “Fruits,” later identified as Robinson.

Detectives linked Robinson to the woman’s death through text messages, surveillance footage from Kingsbay Food Mart in St. Marys, showing the drug transaction, and positive identification by family members, according to NCSO.

Furthermore, NCSO says testing done by its crime scene unit confirmed the pills contained fentanyl, and the medical examiner ruled the woman’s death resulted from fentanyl and oxycodone intoxication.

“When you sell fentanyl, you’re not just breaking the law – you’re playing with people’s lives,” Sheriff Bill Leeper said in the post.

The sheriff’s office did not release the identity of the woman in the post.
