HAPEVILLE, Ga. — A man is in custody in connection with the theft of unreleased music that was stolen from a vehicle belonging to Beyoncé in July.

The incident happened in a parking deck on Krog Street on July 8, two days before her first “Cowboy Carter” tour stop in Atlanta.

Police said two people claiming to be on Beyonce’s team discovered the back window of their black Jeep Wagoneer had been smashed, and two suitcases were missing after they returned to it.

An incident report stated the stolen items included: jump drives with unreleased music, footage plans for the show, past and future set lists, two laptops, designer sunglasses, clothes and Apple AirPods Max headphones.

A warrant obtained by 11Alive stated Atlanta Police received screenshots of where the stolen items were pinging. The items pinged at two locations: one on Hank Aaron Drive, Longreen Terrace, and another on North Avenue in Hapeville.

According to warrants, a crime analyst was able to look at surveillance cameras and locate the vehicle that was used in the theft via the license plate.

Police tracked the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. However, the driver was taken into custody due to marijuana possession. The driver cooperated with detectives during the interrogation, and they were able to locate the suspect involved in the theft on Krog Street.

According to warrants, the driver told detectives that her uncle, Kelvin Evans, used the vehicle, and she later noticed four black suitcases in the back, but did not question it. The addresses from which the stolen items were pinged were also the same addresses connected to her uncle, according to the warrants.

During the investigation, police gained access to cameras on Hank Aaron Drive on July 8 and viewed footage of the driver’s uncle. Police report the clothing of the person in the Krog Street theft matches the clothing on Evans in the Hank Aaron Drive video.

Evans was booked in the Fulton County Jail and is facing charges of entering an automobile or other motor vehicle with the intent to commit theft or felony.
