In a dramatic development, authorities have apprehended a suspect linked to a fatal home invasion in a tranquil Connecticut coastal community. The suspect was captured by U.S. Marshals in neighboring New York after an intensive two-month pursuit.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals’ New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force triumphantly announced the arrest of Ivan Barias-Florimon, 24, in the Bronx. Barias-Florimon was identified last week as the second perpetrator in connection with the tragic shooting of Frederick Raymond Werner, 69, that occurred on June 3.
The disturbing incident unfolded on June 3 when Werner and his wife were violently attacked in their Milford, Connecticut residence. Authorities say Barias-Florimon, along with another suspect identified as 25-year-old Stuar Lopez-Reyes, forced entry into the couple’s home on East Broadway and opened fire upon the residents.

The horrifying ordeal also left Werner’s wife suffering a gunshot wound to the head. She remains hospitalized, where she continues her recovery, according to FOX61.
Barias-Florimon is facing charges of:
- Felony murder
- Conspiracy to commit murder
- Home invasion
- Attempted murder
- First-degree assault on an elderly person

Milford Police said the attack was not a “random act of violence” and may have been targeted.
U.S. Marshals, along with Milford and New Haven police, arrested Lopez-Reyes on Thursday in connection to the crime.
An obituary for Werner said “Fred embraced life to the fullest. He loved spending time on the golf course, boating on the water, relaxing by his pool, and soaking up the sunshine. The ocean was one of his favorite places, where he found peace and happiness.”

New York Criminal Court records indicate Barias-Florimon was arraigned Tuesday, when a judge ordered that he be remanded without bail. He is due back in court Aug. 18.
As for Lopez-Reyes, he is being held in a Bridgeport, Connecticut, jail cell on a $3 million bond and is due to appear in court on Aug. 11.
Werner is survived by his wife, his sister, two daughters, and three grandchildren.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
