An influential aide to what some call the “most progressive prosecutor in America” was recently involved in a protest that interrupted a church service in Minnesota.

Jamael Lundy, who serves as an aide to Hennepin County’s prosecutor Mary Moriarty, supported by George Soros, was identified among the protesters at a St. Paul church. This incident was streamed live by former CNN anchor Don Lemon, according to a report from the Daily Wire.

Lundy, who is campaigning as a Democrat for a seat in the Minnesota state legislature, also holds the position of intergovernmental affairs coordinator for Moriarty, as stated on his campaign website.

Notably, Lundy is married to Anika Bowie, a member of the St. Paul City Council. His involvement in the anti-ICE demonstration has intensified concerns that officials in Minnesota may not pursue an investigation into the incident.

During the protest, Lundy was interviewed by Don Lemon and was seen holding an American flag upside down, explaining his reasons for participating in the demonstration.

He also appeared to contradict Lemon in their conversation, as the journalist began by saying that the mob assembled, ‘in large part without support from officials, local officials…. There are some people who want to be involved, local officials, but they’re doing this all on their own, this is all grassroots.’

Lemon asked: ‘Without giving out what the operation is, why are you out here?’

Lundy responded: ‘I’m here to support our community activists. I’m currently a candidate for Minnesota State Senate District 65. I feel like it’s important if you’re going to be representing people in office, that you’re out here with the people as well.

Despite Lundy saying he was a candidate for office, Lemon doubled down on his depiction of the gathering as unsanctioned, saying: ‘The people are organizing on their own, even without representatives or officials, and hoping that everyone gets involved. This is grassroots.’

Lundy responded: ‘We all we got. I’m actually married to an elected official; I work closely with elected officials, but direct action from the community, certainly within the lines of the law, is so important to show that we have one voice.’

Inside the church, Lundy was seen raising his fist as the anti-ICE protest interrupted the Sunday church service.

At one point, he was seen shouting: ‘Who shut this down? We shut this down.’

The Daily Mail has contacted Lundy for comment.

According to the Daily Wire, Lundy previously worked for Minnesota House Rep. Carlos Mariani, the Democrat House Caucus Campaign, Congresswoman Betty McCullum, and the state teachers union

He also founded ‘Black Operations Public Relations LLC’, and runs a firm called ‘Homes for Homies Property Management LLC’, which ‘provides affordable housing for those struggling with credit and criminal backgrounds’.

On Monday, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon announced that her office was looking into opening a federal probe into Lemon and other members of the anti-ICE mob.

Dhillon said she felt the need to launch the federal probe due to inaction from Minnesota authorities over the incident.  The Daily Mail has approached her office for comment.

This included in an interview with Lemon following the storming of the church, where Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison insisted that the ‘First Amendment’ meant that the actions were legal, as he said, ‘none of us are immune from the voice of the public.’

In his role in Moriarty’s office, Lundy would be the staffer that would interact with the federal government.

Moriarty – who is under a separate investigation for saying she takes into account a suspect’s ‘racial identity’ when charging them – has become a vocal opponent of ICE in recent times amid the immigration crackdown in her state.

As Minnesota was gripped by ICE raids last month, Moriarty branded the offices as ‘strike teams’ and said they were unfairly targeting Somalis in the state.

The Hennepin County Attorney shared a video to her followers after the DOJ charged an alleged serial rapist immigrant who was freed by her office.

‘There are no roving gangs of Somali people in this community, harassing, threatening, doing anything to any of our community members. Let me repeat that again because I’ve heard this often,’ she said.

‘There are no roving gangs of Somalis targeting or harassing or doing anything inappropriate to any community members. Those are simply lies. It is not true.’

Moriarty seemingly insisted that there has been no wrongdoing by gangs Somali immigrants in Minnesota and vowed not to assist ICE.

‘Our office at the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office here will not assist in any way, shape or form in any of these ICE raids,’ she said.

‘Our Somali community members are what makes Minneapolis one of the finest places in the world to live.’

Her comments come amid intense scrutiny over so-called Somali fraud in Minnesota after a $250 million welfare fraud scandal was uncovered.

The vast majority of the more than 57 people so far convicted in the case are part of Minnesota’s Somali community, however  ringleader Aimee Bock, 44, is not.
