In April 2024, the Ask Anthony team started looking into viewers complaints about Premier Outdoor USA/Outdoor Dreams Company.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Attorney General is taking legal action against a Jacksonville-based hot tub and outdoor kitchen business and its owner, who is accused of bad business practices across several states.

This all comes after extensive reporting by the Ask Anthony team that started in April 2024.

The state has filed a lawsuit against Premier Outdoor USA, Outdoor Dreams Company and Shaun Jackrel, the man who ran both companies. According to the complaint, the companies advertised and sold hot tubs, outdoor kitchens, and swim spas– but in many cases, never delivered them, delivered damaged products, or abandoned projects entirely after getting paid.

According to the lawsuit filed in Duval County on July 23, the companies sold these big-ticket backyard items to people in Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Tennessee and Virginia from 2020 to early 2025.

Customers say they were sold hot tubs and swim spas that were damaged or broken. Some say they paid in full and never received the product. Others reported that the company measured their backyards incorrectly, then failed to fix the problem or deliver the right-sized equipment. The lawsuit states even when people canceled within the allowed timeframe, refunds were rarely issued.

The attorney general says a total of 30 consumers were affected and is asking for more than $394,000 in restitution, plus $330,000 in civil penalties for what the lawsuit calls “willful violations” of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.

The lawsuit also holds Shaun Jackrel personally responsible, saying he oversaw the day-to-day operations, approved the sales tactics and either participated in or had direct knowledge of the alleged misconduct.

The Attorney General is also asking the court to permanently ban Jackrel and his companies from selling or advertising hot tubs, swim spas, or outdoor kitchens anywhere in Florida again. The state says their actions caused “substantial injury to the public” and could continue unless the court steps in.

The Ask Anthony team has reached out to the Florida Attorney General’s Office and Shaun Jackrel for comment.
