Netflix viewers spot 'disgusting' detail in Meghan Markle's new show

Netflix viewers have been left ‘disgusted’ over a detail in Meghan Markle’s new cookery show that premiered earlier this week – but a closer inspection revealed she may not be guilty of what they’re accusing her of.

The Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan was released by the streamer on March 4 after a six-week delay in response to the Los Angeles wildfires.

The show, which was filmed in a glamorous £5m estate not far from her and Prince Harry’s Montecito home, follows Meghan as she whips up sumptuous meals for her friends and family while sharing her best tips and tricks for entertaining.

However, viewers were left unimpressed after they noticed the ‘unhygienic’ way Meghan apparently stored ‘raw’ chicken in the third episode of the series that featured celebrated Korean-American chef Roy Choi.

In it, Choi – best known for his gourmet Korean-Mexican taco truck Kogi – and the former Suits actress bonded over a shared love of ‘karaoke and dancing’ in Koreatown while preparing a hearty meal of Korean fried chicken.

At one point, the mother-of-two opens the fridge to reveal a row of what viewers believed were raw chicken legs lying on a shelf, right next to salad leaves, as viewers questioned why the poultry wasn’t covered or stored separately in a container in comments on X/Twitter.

The scene was first shared online by X user @lillyinlondon, who captioned the clip: ‘Why has #MeghanMarkle [kept] raw chicken legs in the fridge next to the salad?’

The post quickly racked up nearly 200 comments as several people expressed their distaste for the way Meghan had lined the chicken legs up inside the fridge.

One X user’s reply read: ‘I believe Chef Gordon Ramsay would call that cross contamination.’

Another added: ‘Why aren’t they covered? They probably stink up the whole fridge.’

A third quipped: ‘Hello salmonella, my old friend’

One viewer added it was ‘disgusting’ that the meat was ‘just sitting on the glass shelf’ while another said: ‘Oh damn. This reiterates what we all know. She knows NOTHING about food prep.

‘Wow, salmonella with your snacks, anyone?’

Yet another X user dubbed the fridge ‘salmonella central’ while referring to the salmonella bacteria that live in the gut of farm animals and is shed through their stool.

It is most common in raw meat, poultry, seafood and eggs because the cooking process kills off the bugs. Faeces may get onto raw meat and poultry during the butchering process, while seafood may be contaminated if harvested from contaminated water.

Reacting to the perceived faux-pas, one social media user shared: ‘Yikes! Everything is contaminated by raw chicken! Who does that?! Glad I’ll never have to eat dinner at her house.’

It comes after viewers were put off by Meghan’s unconventional method for cooking spaghetti as seen during the premiere episode of her Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan.

During the first episode, which featured Meghan’s makeup artist ‘bestie’ Daniel Martin, the Duchess recreates a dish called ‘skillet spaghetti’ that she regularly cooks for Prince Harry, 40,  and their children, Archie, five and Lilibet, three.

While there’s no expense spared in the utensils, the Duchess uses a Le Creuset dish, beloved of the middle classes on both sides of the Pond, and a cooker that’s thought to have cost a real pretty penny, some Italians might wince at the technique.

Traditional methods might see pasta submerged in a large pan of salted boiling water, but here, Meghan simply pours ‘three cups’ of boiling water onto the spaghetti and then puts a lid on it.

Some aired their grievances on X, formerly Twitter, as they couldn’t believe their eyes.

‘Netflix paid a lot of money just to let us know Meghan Markle doesn’t know how to cook pasta,’ one person snarked.

‘Next she’ll show us how to make frozen pizza!’ someone else joked.

Another lamented, ‘She over cooked the noodles. Slimy looking.’

‘Wtf is that? It looks like she made some sort of soup, cooked the vegetables to hell, tossed in some spaghetti and called it a day,’ a user commented.

‘The pasta looks fine in the end, but I think Italians screamed at their tv’s when she poured water into the sauce,’ someone else observed.

Others, however, came to the Duchess’ defense to say that it looked delicious.

‘It looked delicious to me,’ one person wrote.

Another moment that might besmirch an entire European nation? The duchess calls the popular Italian pasta ‘noodles’ more than once while prepping the meal.
