(NEXSTAR) — After a commanding lead, running front-of-the-pack for 146 of 163 laps, Georgia native Austin Hill took home a victory at Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Bennett Transportation & Logistics 250.
The win follows Hill’s heartbreaking loss at last week’s race in Daytona, where he led most of the race before experiencing engine failure that caused him to drop out, paving a path to victory for Jesse Love.
Love finished this week’s race in 16th place.
This marks Hill’s third consecutive, and fifth total victory at his home track of Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“To win in front of my home crowd is always special,” Hill said. “I used to come out here and race Bandoleros.”
It was a close victory as Justin Allgaier took the lead with just three laps to go, but in the final lap Hill pushed ahead to take the win.
Saturday was Hill’s 11th career win, and pushed him to the top of the Xfinity Series leaderboard, just one point ahead of previous leader Sheldon Creed.
Creed finished in 14th place after a multicar accident pushed him out of a top 10 finish.
Racers now shift their focus to next week’s Focused Health 250 at the Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, Texas. The race starts at 2:30 p.m. ET and airs on The CW.
