The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed they found over 50 bodies at various stages of decomposition, prompting an extensive inquiry.
Currently, teams from the Medical Examiner’s Office are diligently working to identify the deceased. This effort involves examining records and death certificates carefully.
Authorities anticipate that identifying the bodies might take several days. Officials have committed to collaborating with other agencies to ensure that affected families receive timely notifications.
State records show that the owner of the facility is “Clark Morgan.”
That is the same name of the person who ran Chicago Heights crematory that ABC7 reported on last year that was shut down after more than 100 bodies were found in improperly stored in trailers on the property.
ABC7 has reached out to the funeral home but have not yet gotten a response.
No further information was immediately available the investigation continues.
This is a developing story.
