The distraught daughter of the woman who married Jill Biden’s former husband was seen arriving at the scene of her mother’s death, accompanied by police on Wednesday. Exclusive photos by the Daily Mail captured the moment.

Christina Vettori appeared visibly upset as she stood outside the Wilmington, Delaware, residence where her 64-year-old mother, Linda Stevenson, was discovered deceased. This followed a 911 call reporting a late-night domestic dispute.

Despite her presence, Vettori did not enter the three-bedroom house, which was purchased by her mother and Bill Stevenson, Jill Biden’s ex-husband, in 1998.

On Tuesday, Vettori, aged 45, had dramatically referred to the incident as “still a murder investigation” when asked by the Daily Mail for a comment regarding the tragic event.

Her arrival on Wednesday was in a white Jeep, flanked by at least four SUVs from the New Castle County Police Department, who temporarily restricted access to the typically serene street.

With her hair tied up in a bun and sunglasses on her head, she was also accompanied by a friend for the poignant and clearly distressing visit.

Vettori stayed around half an hour before leaving, again flanked by the police convoy. The reason for her visit, apart from being a deeply emotional one, is not known.

Hours earlier, a cop team removed items from the house as the investigation into Linda’s death on Sunday night continues.

Police were photographed exclusively by the Daily Mail swarming outside the $260,000 Stevenson home in Wilmington, Delaware, as police said the case is being treated as a death investigation

One camera-wielding officer went inside the house in Wilmington, Delaware, with a flat paper bag and emerged minutes later with it bursting with possible evidence, as revealed in exclusive Daily Mail pictures.

Another cop outside told the Daily Mail: ‘You’re not allowed on the property. We’ve got to hold this place for a while.’

Vettori, general manager of a landscaping company, is Bill Stevenson’s stepdaughter and has a 23-year-old daughter, Ciara.

Only months before mom Linda’s death, she joyously married Jeremy Dunford, 49, after meeting him while dining out with her stepdad and mother, she revealed on her wedding website.

After hooking up, ’together they build a beautiful, loving home, filled with laughter, adventure, and whole lot of love,’ she gushed on the page for her nuptials at the Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton, Pennsylvania in October, 2025.

’Their children – Ciara, Madison, and Logan – became the heart of their world, making every step of their journey even more meaningful.’

New Castle County Police told the Daily Mail they were working on a ‘death investigation’ and would not be drawn on any aspect of it being a murder probe.

Asked if the house was a crime scene, a spokesman said: ‘Crime scene is not a term I would use for the house. We are still at the home and investigating, which is entirely normal. This is an ongoing investigation.’

He said Stevenson, 77, who married Jill Biden between 1970 and 1975, had been interviewed, as had neighbors in the quiet tree-lined street. The ex-husband of the former First Lady was ‘not in custody,’ and no charges have been filed.

Meanwhile, the neighbors on either side of the $260,000 three-bedroom home defiantly refused to comment on the mysterious tragedy revealed after a 911 call at 11.16pm, which mentioned a cardiac arrest, according to TMZ.

Linda died at the scene despite a desperate battle to bring her round. Her body remains at the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, and an autopsy has yet to be done, police said Wednesday.

Investigators have not revealed details of the callout for the alleged domestic row and have not said who may have been involved.

An official statement merely states that officers ‘responded to a reported domestic dispute… upon entering the home, officers located 64-year-old Linda Stevenson unresponsive in the living room.

‘Officers immediately administered life-saving measures; however, despite their efforts, Linda Stevenson was pronounced deceased. No allegations of foul play have been made by authorities.’

Bill did not appear to be at the home, where the couple has lived since 1998.

Previously, he gave an interview to the Daily Mail in which he blew the lid off Joe Biden’s squeaky clean version of how the former president hooked up with Jill, saying they had an affair that broke up his marriage.

He said the whole story the Bidens tell about how the one-term Commander-in-Chief fell in love with his ex after a blind date is total fiction.

Stevenson said two years after he married Jill, the couple was working on then-New Castle County Councilman Biden’s first campaign for the Senate.

At the time, Biden was married to his first wife Neilia, who died along with their one-year-old daughter Naomi in a car crash between the election and Biden taking his Senate seat.

Stevenson said he first suspected Biden and Jill were having an affair in August 1974. He was then 26, Jill was 23 and Joe was 31.

‘I know exactly when it was,’ he said. ‘Bruce Springsteen was going to play at The Stone Balloon, and I had to go to Northern New Jersey to pay him in advance.

‘I asked Jill to go with me, and she said no – she had things to do, she had to look after Joe’s kids, Beau and Hunter. It was kind of a big deal to go meet Springsteen. I had no idea she and Joe were that kind of friendly.

‘Then one of her best friends told me she thought Joe and Jill were getting a little too close. I was surprised that she came to me.’

That October, he got confirmation. ‘I was at work, and a guy came in and asked: “Do you own a brown Corvette?” I said yes, it’s my wife’s car.

‘He said back in May, it had crunched his bumper, and they told him to get an estimate and he never heard back from them.

‘I said: ‘Wait a minute. Who is they?’ And he said: ‘Funnily enough, Senator Biden was driving.’

That was it as far as Stevenson was concerned.

‘I asked Jill to leave the house, which she did. Her father was begging me to take her back when he found out what was going on. He asked me to give her a second chance, but I wasn’t interested.

Bill added: ‘I considered Joe a friend. I’m not surprised he fell in love with Jill. Everyone who meets Jill falls in love with her immediately. It’s hard not to.’

The couple divorced in May 1975, but Bill said his split from Jill had a silver lining.

‘If it wasn’t for my divorce, I would never have met my wife Linda, and she’s the greatest thing in my life.

She was in an advertisement for local parks that he saw while passing through Wilmington Airport with his brother Frank. He told Frank that was the kind of girl he would like to date, and Frank said, ‘Why don’t you then? I know her,’ and passed on her number.

In her 2019 autobiography, Where The Light Enters, Jill wrote that Joe called her and asked her out. She said she already had a date, but he persisted because he was only in town for one night, and she relented.

They went to Philadelphia to see the French movie, A Man And A Woman, ironically about a widowed man falling in love, and then went out to dinner.

Despite him saying he was only in town for a single night, the couple went out the next two nights as well, she wrote.

Jill and Joe Biden were married at the Chapel of the United Nations in New York in June 1977.

Stevenson first met Jill in August 1969. ‘I was leaving for Woodstock the following day,’ he said. I was at a car wash, and she and her friend came over to admire my 1968 Z28 Chevy Camaro. It was yellow with black stripes, all the rage at the time.

‘I was going to my friend’s birthday party that night, so I invited them along. There were four good-looking girls in that apartment, and I thought the more the merrier. The rest is history.’

They married the following year when Jill was only 18. In her book, she described her first husband as ‘charismatic and entrepreneurial,’ – but did not name him. She said her marriage soon fell apart.

‘We were young, and it didn’t take long before we grew in different directions,’ she wrote.

‘I tried to make the relationship work. I thought I could will our marriage back to life. But I had to separate what I thought my family should be from the reality of what this relationship was.’

She added: ‘Before long, I began to see that the breaks were beyond repair. I wouldn’t settle for a counterfeit love. Like a broken spell, the truth of the reality struck me suddenly: I was going to get divorced.’

Stevenson has led a colorful life. He played defensive end for the University of Delaware football team before opening The Stone Balloon.

He was at Studio 54 in New York with Andy Warhol and Lisa Minnelli and met some of the biggest names in rock through his club. He is a multiple gold medal winner at shot put in the National Senior Games.

He also founded a horticultural company called Sticky Pots and invented the SuperStake, a plant support system that he recently sold to Scotts Miracle-Gro. ‘They sold a million SuperStakes in Walmart alone last year,’ he said.
