The Puerto Rican superstar’s selection comes amid career-defining run, fresh off a historic Puerto Rico residency and one of the world’s most streamed artists.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Bad Bunny will take center stage as Super Bowl 60’s halftime show performer.

The announcement came during halftime of Sunday Night Football’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys.

The Puerto Rican superstar’s selection comes amid another career-defining run: He’s fresh off a historic Puerto Rico residency this month that drew more than half a million fans and is leading all nominees at the Latin Grammys in November. He has become one of the world’s most streamed artists with albums such as “Un Verano Sin Ti,” an all-Spanish-language LP.

The three-time Grammy winner shared a video on social media featuring the rapper and singer sitting on football goalposts.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said in a statement. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Apple Music teased the announcement earlier Sunday on social media, posting an image of three emojis — a football, an apple and a shushing face — with the caption urging people to “tune into Sunday Night Football halftime for a big announcement.” The tech giant took over sponsorship of the halftime show from Pepsi in 2022.

Bad Bunny will headline the Feb. 8, 2026, show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., home of the San Francisco 49ers. The 2026 Super Bowl will air on NBC.

The 31-year-old artist born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio has won three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys. He has become a global ambassador for Latin music, starred in films such as “Bullet Train,” “Caught Stealing” and “Happy Gilmore 2,” and collaborated with top fashion houses. He’ll enter the Latin Grammys as the leading nominee with 12, dethroning producer and songwriter Édgar Barrera.

Fans have been speculating about the potential halftime performer for weeks. Rumors swirled after Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s engagement announcement in August that the pop superstar might headline the show — further fueled by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell refusing to officially rule it out during an interview on NBC’s “Today.”

The halftime show has become one of the most-watched musical events globally, regularly drawing more than 100 million viewers and dominating social media conversation during and after the performance.

Bad Bunny joins an elite roster of recent headliners.

In February 2025, Kendrick Lamar took the stage at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, joined by SZA and a special guest appearance by Samuel L. Jackson. Usher headlined Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas in February 2024, delivering a career-spanning set that featured surprise guests and highlighted his decades of R&B hits. Rihanna returned to performing after a years-long hiatus to headline Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, in February 2023, confirming during the show that she was pregnant with her second child.
