Last month, the iconic singer disclosed that he was set to undergo surgery to remove a “cancerous spot” from his left lung.
WASHINGTON — Barry Manilow, the celebrated musician, provided an update on Wednesday regarding his recent cancer surgery and announced the postponement of his Las Vegas residency dates slated for this month.
Back in December, the singer shared that he had been diagnosed with a cancerous spot on his left lung. Following a recovery period from bronchitis, his doctor recommended an MRI to ensure his health was on track. It was during this scan that the concerning spot on his lung was identified, necessitating surgical intervention.
Manilow reported on Wednesday that the surgery was successful and that he is on the road to recovery.
“I’ve been staying active and spending some quality time in the studio, which has been wonderful,” he shared on Instagram.
At his doctor’s guidance, he will postpone his residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas, which were set for Feb. 12 through Feb. 21. He said it’s so he can focus on healing and prepare for his tour, which starts at the end of February.
“Having a few extra weeks to rest and prepare is what the doctor ordered!” he said.
Due to his recovery, he had previously rescheduled dates for tour that had been set for January. The tour is now scheduled for Feb. 27 through April 29.
The tour includes stops in Tampa, Columbus, Charleston, Orlando, Sunrise, Estero, Greensboro, Jacksonville and Duluth, Georgia.
