The Yankees got right against the St. Louis Cardinals and now head to Tampa to face the Rays in a de facto home game at George Steinbrenner Field.

Manager Aaron Boone’s team desperately needed those victories, and they head into Tuesday gearing up for a series opener in which they are slight favorites with Carlos Rodón on the mound.

Tampa Bay counters with talented, albeit inconsistent, starter Shane Baz (8-9, 4.93 ERA).

The Yankees are -145 favorites at BetMGM on Tuesday night, with the total set at eight total runs.

Rodón has been solid, pitching to the tune of a 3.25 ERA and a 12-7 record.

Entering played Monday, the Rays ranked No. 14 in the majors in runs scored per game (4.45).

Their struggles against left-handed pitching have been evident, as they have the league-lowest .228 average against southpaws this year. Scoring only 3.56 runs per game in the last 30 contests, they rank 27th in the majors in this aspect.

It’s going to be a tough night at the office for the Rays, whose lineup features lefty-hitting Chandler Simpson and Brandon Lowe at the top.

In terms of betting on this game, there’s little reason to target the moneyline.

Instead, let’s place our bet on the Yankees establishing a strong lead early against Baz, who has issued multiple walks in seven consecutive starts and has not pitched beyond five innings in four of those appearances.
