Beyoncé to 'bare all' in shock career move that will unsettle Jay-Z

When Beyoncé introduced ‘Becky’ back in 2016, her fans were bereft and fully convinced that Jay-Z had cheated on their queen.

‘He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair,’ she sang on her track Sorry from Grammy-winning album Lemonade.

Devoted fans turned detectives, obsessively trying to uncover the true identity of ‘Becky’ with Rita Ora’s name caught in the middle of it all. Some were quick to point fingers at fashion designer Rachel Roy, the former spouse of Jay-Z’s business partner, Damon Dash.

In 2017, Jay-Z mentioned Becky in his song Family Feud, suggesting a reflection on the pain of cheating as he rapped: ‘Yeah, I’ll mess up a good thing if you let me / Leave me alone, Becky.’

Now, almost ten years later, Jay-Z might once again face the fury of Beyoncé’s devoted fan base, as reports claim that the singer is preparing to reveal intimate details in a forthcoming memoir.

‘Beyoncé is quietly writing a memoir after being inspired by her mother’s book,’ an insider told the Daily Mail. ‘Beyonce has been private about her personal life, but she documents everything so has technically been writing one for over a decade now.’

The Crazy in Love singer is notoriously private when it comes to her personal life, rarely using it to leverage brand deals like fellow celebs, instead dropping small insights at carefully planned moments in visual albums, lyrics and essays.

‘One thing I’ve worked extremely hard on is making sure my kids can have as much normalcy and privacy as possible, ensuring my personal life isn’t turned into a brand,’ she told GQ in a rare interview last year.

‘It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art. I have made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace.’

In recent weeks she has seemingly eased up on her strict measures, welcoming on stage during her Cowboy Carter tour her eight-year-old daughter Rumi, who together with her twin brother Sir has largely been shrouded in secrecy since birth. The tour has been a family affair with eldest daughter Blue Ivy part of the dance troupe. Beyoncé’s mom Tina Knowles also joined them onstage for a date in the US.

Beyoncé used the moment to pay tribute to ‘Mama T’ after Matriarch: A Memoir by Tina Knowles took the No. 1 spot on the New York Times bestsellers list last month.

Tina’s decision to go public is said to be the inspiration behind her daughter’s decision to put pen to paper and tell her own story.

‘Tina has been encouraging Beyoncé to be honest and raw about everything – including the infidelity,’ our insider said.

Beyoncé steadfastly stood by her man when cheating rumors first surfaced in 2016, some two years after her sister Solange Knowles was captured on camera attacking Jay-Z in an elevator after the Met Gala.

Shocking surveillance footage – bought at the time by TMZ for a reported $250,000 – showed Solange jabbing her finger at her brother-in-law before shoving and hitting him and even throwing her clutch bag at his head.

Beyoncé, meanwhile, appeared unfazed, stepping out of the elevator fully composed and showing no sign of the fight that had taken place just seconds before.

The incident was explained away as a normal family altercation in a short statement: ‘They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family… At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family.’

Fans were predictably unconvinced and pounced on the footage when Beyoncé released Lemonade – widely believed to be about her husband’s infidelity. She has never addressed this or the elevator ruckus despite Ora, Roy and others standing accused of being the other woman. They both denied this.

Some of Beyoncé’s fans claimed the elevator fight had started after Roy had ‘provoked’ Solange at the afterparty.

In 2017, Jay-Z finally admitted to New York Magazine, shortly after his wife had given birth to their twins, that he had been unfaithful.

‘So even with women, you gonna [sic] shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect… In my case, like, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity,’ he said.

Amid the martial drama, Becoming Beyoncé – an unauthorized biography by J. Randy Taraborrelli. The book went some way to attempt to demystify the singer, documenting her rise to fame in Houston Texas, the eldest daughter of Tina, a hairdresser and Matthew Knowles, a sales manager. From there it followed her journey from a member of Girls Tyme to early fame in Destiny’s child, meeting Jay-Z and becoming one of the most successful female recording artists of all time.

But, according to our insider, she did not feel the book ‘portrayed her accurately.’

‘She is going to bare all in her own words,’ they said. ‘Publishers are aware of this and have already started putting bids in.’

A memoir could be a smart move for the megastar who has struggled to sell out her current Cowboy Carter tour. She pocketed millions from her record-breaking Renaissance World Tour in 2023 – which sold out in minutes – and its theatrical release, but has so far failed to emulate the success.

Coupled with the ongoing controversy over Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs (Jay-Z was accused of raping a 13-year-old with the disgraced mogul – something he furiously denied) perhaps now is the time for Beyonce to change tack, drop her guard and finally tell-all in her own words.
