Police in Santa Clara, California, are delving into a shooting incident that left three individuals injured at a shopping center on Black Friday evening.

Authorities from San Jose reported that they discovered the wounded victims around 5:40 p.m. inside the Westfield Valley Fair Mall, located just to the west of downtown San Jose. The injured were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their gunshot wounds.

According to police, the victims include an adult male, an adult female, and a 16-year-old girl. Fortunately, their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Officials have indicated that this was an isolated event and clarified that it did not involve an active shooter scenario.

Sources from law enforcement informed ABC News that the incident began with an argument between two individuals near Macy’s on the mall’s second floor. The altercation escalated to gunfire, and it is believed that the shooter was accompanied by several women pushing strollers. Following the shooting, they quickly left the scene.

At last check, the suspect was still outstanding.

“We can say, for a matter of fact, that this was not unsuspected shoppers that were targeted. This was an isolated incident with two individuals, and unfortunately, two others were injured. And this shouldn’t stop people from enjoying their holiday,” says Sgt. Jorge Garibay, with the San Jose Police Department.

Video from our sister station in San Francisco shows crowds of Black Friday shoppers evacuating the mall. It appeared a bullet went through a store window, leaving glass all over the ground.

Cellphone video from inside shows a chaotic scene as shoppers scrambled, trying to get out of the mall.

Another video shows shoppers evacuating a store with their hands up as they walk down escalators and in a single file line out of the store, listening ot the orders of officers trying to clear one of the Bay Area’s largest shopping centers.

Police say they’re now reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses, hoping to identify the shooter and the group he was with before he ran. San Jose police are asking anyone with information or video to come forward.

The Westfield Valley Fair Mall is partially located in San Jose and partly in Santa Clara.
